The Plasencia Operation is one of the best in the world. The family has been known for their consistent production and their ability to sell amazing tobacco to different brands/companies. From a brand point of view they’ve created a solid production for themselves which cant be said for most Tobacco Whole sale operations who make the leap into having their own brand.
Nestor Sr. Is one of the smartest and quiet master blender in the industry. I’m fortunate enough to say that I was able to spend time with Nestor Plasencia Sr, Jr and Gustavo. One of the coolest moments for me was when Javier who’s their National sales Manager introduced me to Nestor Senior. He was sitting down and I had noticed that who ever went over to him, he’d shake the person’s hand and the person would sit next to him. When Javier introduced me to him, he stood up and shook my hand and then proceeded to show off the Plasencia catalog with serious details. I was floored. After I spent some time with Senior I sat with Javier and Nestor Jr.
The first thing they both said was “So far you’re the only person the old man has stood up for All day. That meant the world to me. Fast forward a few months later The Plasencia Solomon was the #9 cigar in the world according to Cigar Aficionado. The Nestico we smoked is one of the most full flavored cigars in the market for that size.
In this episode we talk about the Plasencia Family, cap line , Nestor Senior , the luxury of time, combustion, size of a cigar and affects of burn ingredients and factors in a cigar, challenging the palette and pairing a cigar.
