In every rite of passage, there is a phase where one is not who they once were and not yet who they will become. Like the seeker on pilgrimage or a caterpillar inside its chrysalises, there exist states of uncertainty, chaos, and metamorphosis. These are states of liminality.
Liminal states operate under different rules. Time and space change their ways. Control surrenders to awareness. Acceptance becomes a form of agency. And those who let go are transformed.
Liminality is an anthology of immersive stories that transports you into the depths of the liminal realm. The show unfolds around you like a dream, alternating between award-winning Virtual Reality pieces and original soundscapes played through New York City’s only permanent Ambisonic sound system. Combining MoFE’s surreal storytelling with mind bending technology, MoFE’s Liminality invites you to enter the dark unknown in the pursuit of a brighter future.
This is a seated audiovisual experience. Parts of the show require the use of a VR headset. The full show runs 70 minutes with no intermission. Suggested age: 16+.

MoFE: A NEW VENUE FOR IMMERSIVE STORYTELLING
MoFE, Museum of Future Experiences, reopens on June 11, 2021 in its new location in
Williamsburg, Brooklyn. MoFE is a physical venue and production studio for immersive
storytelling. MoFE’s shows weave together Virtual Reality and Ambisonic sound design for
intimate, sensorial experiences.
LIMINALITY: A TECHNOLOGICALLY INDUCED HEADTRIP
MoFE’s Liminality is an anthology of stories that transports audiences into the depths
of the liminal realm. Alternating between curated Virtual Reality pieces and original
Ambisonic soundscapes, the show unfolds like a surreal dream.
Sometimes escaping reality is the only way to reckon with it. When so much has
changed and so much remains uncertain, Liminality provides a catharsis and
restoration. Like the tornado that pulled Dorothy into Oz, Liminality invites guests to
follow a mysterious voice into the dark unknown in pursuit of the light on the other side.
Liminality is a seated, 70-minute audiovisual experience, which includes parts that
take place in VR. Liminality is 16+. Previews run June 11 – July 1, 2021 at MoFE (148

3-D AMBISONIC SOUNDSCAPES
MoFE’s immersive storytelling goes beyond just VR. MoFE creates spellbinding aural
experiences through its state of the art Ambisonics speaker system. The Ambisonics
system creates a 360-degree sphere of sound. Music, voices and sound effects soar
around the listener in three spatial dimensions: left-right, up-down, and near-far.
It is a one-of-a-kind immersive sound experience and the only permanent Ambisonics
installation in New York City.
MoFE’s Liminality includes four original soundscapes created by MoFE and featuring
original compositions by: Disasterpeace, Dave Harrington, Keith Fullerton Whitman,
Chrome Canyon, Lea Bertucci, DEBIT, Andrew Fox.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS:
+ All shows are limited to 16 guests or fewer.
+ All show seating is socially-distanced.
+ Show is for ages 16+
+ Masks are required at all times by all staff and guests*
+ All technology, seats, and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each show.
+ We use medical grade HEPA filters.
+ There is no eating or drinking allowed in MoFE.
+ All visitors and staff are required to have their temperature taken upon arrival at the venue.
+ All staff comply with CDC guidelines with regard to workplace and hygiene etiquette.
